About Me

I was a child of America Online, at the age of 13 I began browsing websites and trying to program my own using their free editor.

I began copy and pasting code I found by viewing the page source or certain sites I liked, there was always an interesting aspect of working with websites that kept my interest. I would make fan sites for bands like Limp Bizkit, or for cartoons like Ren and Stimpy.

I joined the Army at age 19 with the hopes of finding a path in life, and I thought by getting out of the house I would be exposed to new things and get to see the world. I would say the biggest take aways I received was a good work ethic, and no matter how much I wanted to give up I could not. This came handy when I decided to go to college full time while working, I had no issues getting up bright and early and returning home at midnight.

Going to school at the Art Institute I learned all the theories one can imagine, I never thought one could be docked so heavily based on kerning or border widths. It took some time to get used to project critiques, I always thought my work was good and would end up having to change something. But you get used to it and begin to not take things too personally.

After working for 4 years as a sign designer I decided it was time to move up the latter and make more money, web design was the next obvious choice because I had a short history with it and had my design degree under my belt. After graduating I landed a sweet gig as an e-commerce designer at Crystal Commerce. There I was pushed right into the depths of coding and design, and I have enriched myself so much that I have no fears when tacking site issues.

One day I thought back and realized I started doing websites at age thirteen, and never would have thought I would end up doing it for a living.

How cool is that?
